> How many pages is a bank statement usually? Typical counts by account type, what adds pages, and how page count sets your conversion price.
How many pages is a bank statement? There is no fixed number: a quiet savings account can fit on one or two pages, while a busy checking or business account can run past ten. The count comes from the number of transactions plus the bank's summary and notice pages, and it sets the price on per-document converters.

## How many pages is a bank statement for each account type?

A bank statement's page count depends mostly on how many transactions the account had that month, so the account's use matters more than its type. A rough estimate is one summary page, plus the transaction rows divided by the rows that fit on a page, plus any notice pages the bank adds.

The formula, as a quick estimate:

pages = 1 summary page + (transactions ÷ rows per page, rounded up) + notice pages

Rows per page varies by bank and by how long the descriptions are, so count the rows on one full page of your own statement and use that number. The table below runs the formula with an example of 30 rows per page and one notice page. The transaction counts are illustrations, not survey data.

| Example account | Example transactions | Estimated pages |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Savings, interest only | 2 | 1 + 1 + 1 = 3 |
| Checking, light use | 25 | 1 + 1 + 1 = 3 |
| Checking, daily card use | 90 | 1 + 3 + 1 = 5 |
| Credit card, busy month | 150 | 1 + 5 + 1 = 7 |
| Small business checking | 400 | 1 + 14 + 1 = 16 |

A savings account with only an interest line may print everything on the summary page, which brings it down to 1 or 2 pages. A statement that covers three months, such as a quarterly one, runs longer for the same reason, and [the quarterly bank statement guide](/blog/quarterly-bank-statement-to-excel) works through one.

## What adds pages to a bank statement besides transactions

Pages that are not transactions come from the bank, not from you. Common ones are an account summary, a list of fees and interest, check images, legal notices, change-of-terms letters and blank pages added so the statement prints double-sided. They count as pages in the PDF even when they hold no rows.

Look for these when a statement is longer than its rows suggest:

- **Check images**, often several to a page, which add a page or more for an account that writes checks.
- **Change-in-terms notices**, which can add two or three pages in the month they are sent.
- **Error resolution and disclosure text**, often on the last page.
- **Blank or "this page intentionally left blank" pages.**
- **Year-end summaries** of interest or fees on a December statement.

These pages make some months longer than others, even with the same spending.

## Where to read a bank statement's page count?

A bank statement's page count is shown in your PDF viewer, usually as "1 of 6" or similar near the page controls, and many banks also print "Page 1 of 6" on each page. Check both: the PDF can include extra pages, such as a cover sheet or inserts, that the bank's printed count leaves out.

The PDF viewer's number is the one a converter sees. If you are pricing a stack, write down each file's count in a list before you buy anything, since a single long month can change which tier applies.

## Bank statement page count and the conversion price

On a per-document converter, the page count of each statement decides its price tier. At CheapBankConvert's early prices, a statement of 2 pages or fewer converts free in full, up to 10 pages costs $2.99, and 11 to 40 pages costs $5.99. A bundle covers any five statements of up to 40 pages each for $9.99.

That makes 10 pages the line to watch. Using the example table above, every account except the small business one lands in the $2.99 tier, and the business account at 16 pages is $5.99. Twelve such business statements as singles would be $71.88, which is where the bundle matters. The cheapest mix for a full year, including a long December, is worked out in [converting a year of bank statements without overpaying](/blog/convert-a-year-of-bank-statements).

Not every document you might want in a sheet is a statement, and not every one needs converting. An online store's order history, for example, can often be requested as a data file for free, as [the Amazon order history guide](/blog/amazon-order-history-to-excel) explains.

## Bank statement page edge case: blank and notice pages

Blank and notice pages count toward a PDF's page count, so they can push a statement over a price tier. An 11-page statement whose last page is a notice is a $5.99 file. Remove that page and it is a 10-page, $2.99 file, with the same transactions.

Before you remove any page, check it carefully:

1. Confirm it has no transaction rows and no running balance.
2. Confirm it does not hold the closing balance or a fees summary you need.
3. Keep the original PDF unchanged, and save the trimmed copy under a new name.

The original is your record. The trimmed copy is only for converting. Once the rows are in Excel, the closing balance on the last transaction line should still match the statement's printed closing balance.

If you are converting statements to build a plan from them, such as a budget for next year, [the small business budget template](/blog/small-business-budget-template) shows how to fill one from last year's rows. CheapBankConvert's [homepage](/) has a price check that works out the tier for each page count.
