To download Chase bank statements, sign in at chase.com, open the Main Menu, choose "Statements & documents", pick the account and year, and use the open or save icon beside each month. The Chase Mobile app reaches the same PDFs through Profile & Settings. Chase keeps up to seven years online, depending on the account type.

## Downloading Chase statements on chase.com

Downloading Chase statements on a computer takes four clicks once you know the path: the Main Menu icon, "Statements & documents", the account and year filters, and the open or save icon to the right of each statement. A computer is the better choice when you need more than one or two months.

Chase sets out this path in its [paperless statements FAQ](https://chase.com/personal/mobile-online-banking/login-paperless/paperless-faqs). In practice it runs like this:

1. Sign in at chase.com with your username and password, and complete any verification code.
2. Click the Main Menu icon in the top corner of the dashboard.
3. Choose "Statements & documents".
4. Pick the account from the account filter. If you have checking, savings and a card, each has its own list.
5. Pick the year.
6. Click the open or save icon to the right of the month you want.

Opening the statement shows it in a new browser tab, where you can save it with the browser's download button. Saving goes straight to your downloads folder. If neither does anything, a pop-up or download blocker is the usual reason. Allow downloads for chase.com in the browser settings and try once more.

Rename each file as you save it. Browser downloads tend to arrive with long generated names, and a folder of near-identical names makes it easy to miss a month. A name that starts with the year and month, then the account's last four digits, sorts into order by itself.

## Saving Chase statements from the Chase Mobile app

The Chase Mobile app saves statements through Profile & Settings rather than the main menu. Tap the profile icon, choose "Statements & documents" under Document manager, then "Statements", then the account, the year and the month. The statement opens as a PDF that you then share to your phone's files or a cloud folder.

Step by step, from the same Chase FAQ:

1. Open the app and sign in.
2. Tap the Profile & Settings icon.
3. Under Document manager, select "Statements & documents".
4. Tap "Statements" and choose the account.
5. Choose the year, then the statement. It opens as a PDF.
6. Use the share icon to save the PDF to Files, Google Drive, or another folder you can find later.

The last step is the one people skip. A statement that only opened inside the app is not stored anywhere you can attach to an email or upload later. For one month, the app is quick. For a full year, the open, share and save cycle repeats twelve times on a small screen, so a laptop saves time.

## How many years of Chase statements are online?

Chase says that, depending on account type, you can access up to seven years of statements online. The "depending on account type" clause means a checking account and a credit card may not reach equally far, so check the earliest year in the year filter for each account you need.

If the year filter stops short of the month you need, the statement is outside your online window for that account, and you will have to ask for it rather than download it. Call the number on your card or statement, or use secure messaging, and say which account and which months you need. Ask whether a fee applies before you confirm.

Before you ask, check two common causes of a gap that is not really a gap:

- **A replacement card.** A card reissued after fraud or loss may list statements under the new number. Check both entries in the account filter.
- **Statement periods that cross months.** A card statement that closes mid-month may hold the transactions you think of as "last month" in the next month's file.

Seven years online is generous, but it is a rolling window. Each month a new statement joins the list and, once an account reaches the limit, the oldest one can drop out of reach. If you will need a particular year later, for a tax question, a loan or a dispute, save it now instead of trusting it to stay online.

Chase notes that after you enroll it may take a month or so for paper statements to stop arriving, so one or two more envelopes are normal. Your saved PDFs then become the only copy in your hands, which is one more reason to keep them in a folder you back up.

For the general picture of how far back banks go and what changes once you go past the online window, compare Chase with the steps to [download Bank of America statements as PDF or CSV](/blog/download-bank-of-america-statements) and to [download Wells Fargo statements and order old copies](/blog/download-wells-fargo-statements). The menu names differ, but the shape is the same: a statement list, a year filter, and a request route for anything older.

## Chase activity download or Chase statement PDF?

A Chase statement PDF is the official monthly document with balances, while an activity download is a list of transactions for dates you choose. Use the statement when someone else needs proof. Use an activity download, if your account offers one, when you only want rows in a spreadsheet for your own use.

The difference matters most for landlords, lenders and tax preparers. They want the statement period, the opening and closing balances and the bank's layout, because those show that nothing was left out. An activity list has none of those.

For your own budget, the activity download can be the cheaper route, since it skips the conversion step entirely. Look on the account's activity page for a download option and check which formats and date range it offers before relying on it. Three cautions apply:

- **Pending transactions.** A list taken today may include pending items that change or vanish before they post.
- **Date range.** An export may cover only recent activity, not the full history the statement archive holds.
- **No running balance.** Without balances, you cannot check that the rows add up to the statement total.

When the export does not reach back far enough, or you need the balances, the statement PDF is the source. Its rows can be turned into a spreadsheet with a converter. CheapBankConvert, which is preparing to open, shows the first two pages of rows before you pay, so you can see that the Chase dates and amounts came through correctly.

## How many pages a Chase statement PDF runs

A Chase statement PDF runs as long as the month's transactions need, plus a summary and any notice pages, so a quiet savings account may be one or two pages and a busy checking account five or more. Count the rows that fit on one full page of your own statement to estimate the rest.

The worked example below uses an assumed 30 transaction rows per page and one page of summary. The accounts and transaction counts are invented for illustration; your Chase statement may fit more or fewer rows.

| Example account | Example transactions | Summary page | Transaction pages | Estimated total |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Savings with one interest line | 1 | 1 | 0 (fits on summary) | 1 to 2 |
| Checking with daily card use | 75 | 1 | 3 | 4 |
| Credit card in a holiday month | 140 | 1 | 5 | 6 or more |

Notices make some months longer than the rows suggest. A month with a change-of-terms letter or a year-end interest summary can add a page or two with no transactions on them.

The page count matters when you convert the file. CheapBankConvert's early pricing charges by statement size: a two-page statement converts free, up to ten pages is $2.99, and eleven to forty pages is $5.99. Most personal Chase statements in the example fall in the lowest tier or below it.

## Chase statement mistake: saving the wrong account's year

The commonest Chase download mistake is saving a whole year from the wrong account because the account filter did not change when you thought it did. You end up with twelve PDFs from savings when you needed checking, or a card's statements filed under the checking folder.

It happens because the account filter and the year filter sit side by side, and attention goes to the year. Change the year without reading the account name, and you can be saving from whichever account was selected before. The file names the browser generates rarely make the mix-up obvious.

A short check stops it:

1. After choosing the account, read its last four digits on the screen.
2. Open the first saved PDF and confirm the same four digits in its header.
3. Rename files as you go with those digits in the name.
4. At the end, sort the folder and count one file per month per account.

Once the year is saved and checked, put it to use. A year of statements shows which irregular bills, like insurance, car registration or annual subscriptions, landed in which months, and a [sinking funds spreadsheet fed by statement data](/blog/sinking-funds-spreadsheet) turns those into a monthly amount to set aside.
